Subject: Re: QUESTIONS FOR JHANANANDA
Hello Swamiji and thank-you for your reply.
I will attempt to respond to your excellent
comments.
I will now respond to your questions regarding the Buddhist canon and
the Pali languages as best I understand it. In the case of the Pali
canon, you are quite right, like with other religious texts of the
various religions of the world, the Pali canon was oral tradition
until the first century BC when it was finally written down.
The scholarly position on the history of the Buddhist canon is the
Pali canon was the first. I might point out that all of the various
Buddhist canons have the equivalent of the Pali canon as their subset.
Then there have been many additions to the Buddhist canon made by the
various cultures that embraced Buddhism, such as the Chinese, Koreans,
Japanese and Tibetans. The Sanskrit version of the Buddhist canon was
redacted at about the same time the Pali version was, but it is
believed the Sanskrit version was produced as a translation of the
Pali canon.
The reason why Pali was the original liturgical language of Buddhism
is it is believed that Sidharta Gotama spoke Magadha, and there is
pretty good evidence in support of that. Ancient Magadha happens to be
close to Pali. Pali was never a spoken language, but was always a
liturgical language based upon ancient Magadha.
The reasons why the various religious texts of the world were oral are
probably many and varied, but in part it no doubt had to do with the
priest class having control of the literature of that religion. As
you know control is power.
I have chosen the Discourses of the Buddha, which are only a small
portion of the Pali canon, as my canon of choice is it is the oldest
canon of any religion that really has the best support for the mystic.
Yes, the Vedas are excellent as well, but I do not believe they are
as thorough, and Hinduism is still in the hands of a caste driven
priest-class, and I have no interest in supporting castes or priest
classes.
There is an additional problem with any canon of Buddhism for we who
are native speakers of English and that is we need someone to
translate it for us. The issue of translation is an important one
thus the reason why I have been researching and writing an article on
this issue for over a year now. A provisional version of that article
is at his URL:

have scribes? Or did he? The Tipitaka is repetitive and stiff in
style, as if it came down to the original writers from centuries of
lineal generations, who remembered the material by rote memorization.
Is that not correct? It has been decades since I read a Buddhist
history, so I may have forgotten a lot. When was the Tipitaka finally
written down? Jhani, why have you plugged us into your limited
writings or passages from the Tipitaka with all that distracting
computer glitches? Would it not be better to find a good translation
of the Tipitaka online and begin reading? I understand, as you do, the
problem of trying to communicate with the more popular but less
experienced fools who "run the religious show". The only difference
is
in our specialties. Would it not be well that, in addition to
meditation, we acknowledge the need to consider, with open minds, all
possibilities whereby to alleviate human suffering? Your devoted

FORMATION OF A SANGHA
Regarding the formation of a monastic commune, a pompous
or selfish egotist in control would be a ruination, but what if the
leader is OK, but the students want to take over and terminate a good
mandate, on which the Sangha was first established? This is also a
danger. I propose that the founding father, if there is one, write up
a charter, which all members must agree on to enter the Sangha, and
must uphold in order to remain there. If there is no such leader, the
group itself might write such a charter upon the things they agree
about.
The dangers to a Sangha comes from both top and bottom. Most Sanghas
today are not communes at all, but a going financial enterprise,
instituted by the Guru. Many churches are owned by the deacons, who
hire and fire the preachers, while most of the congregation is dumbly
unaware of the revolting arrangement. Until people communicate and
cooperate, there will be "no communal unity", as Padmasambhava
describes these times of chaos, and we all will be subject to the
woeful, wayward whims of selfish financial enterprise, which doesn't
give a damn about the "product" they are selling, just as long as
it
sells, and doesn't give a shit if the people live or die, just as
long as there remain enough of them to produce an avaricious profit.
In the end, the people will only get what they deserve. As for the
present sorry state of affairs, that isn't very much, for they all
have the same selfish, dumbed-down desires for material sundrae slops
and lots of sex and violence on the tube. I don't know about the rest
of you, but, as for myself, I'll leave such a "pig-sty" to the pigs
that deserve it. I only want Salvation from the 8-Fold Suffering. All
else is but my ticket to get there. Jai Om. - Sw. Tantrasangha
TRUTH VS. PRIDE
You made a most essential point about the struggle between advocates
of Urine Therapy and its enemies. It becomes a case of humility and
submission vs. arrogance and domination. They surely want to impress
upon you that they are too good for such humble fare. While you are
staggering around in the woods, on the fourth week of a Urine Fast,
they'll be at the Hilton, "pigging out" on the Filet Mignon and
washing it down with the 1912 Bordeaux.
And when the grub makes them sick, they'll have the $100,000 surgery,
chased by the $1000 a month prescription drugs, and when they
prematurely die, they'll have the $20,000 airtight coffin with the
$30,000 funeral, officiated over by the store-bought preacher from
the million dollar church, owned by the dime store deacons or the
Vatican Bank.
The more I talk this deal, the more I would rather have a simple,
righteous and sane lifestyle, devoid of the pomp and circumstance of
the vainglorious and the proud who, in their headlong rush to
oblivion, would scorn the efficacious fasting therapies, endorsed by
the founders of the True Faiths, both East and West. Give up this
obsession for temporal gain and fleeting social status. As Jesus
said: "Put your treasure where moth and rust doth not corrupt". Where
is that? Do ye not yet Know? It is the Immortal Resurrected Body,
accompanied by the Holy Spirit and its siddhis (the Gifts of the Holy
Spirit - I Cor. 12).
Acknowledge some of the crimes, inflicted by rich countries upon poor
peoples of the "Third World". Were Sitting Bull and Ho Chi Minh such
bad guys? Ask a Lakota Sioux, a Vietnamese peasant, or a Namvet. Give
up the pride, and stop the Repression against Spiritual Truth. Don't
be a spoiled rich brat or a conforming dog, catching the crumbs which
fall from the table of ill-gotten gain. Don't kowtow to Conformity to
an Erroneous Norm, even when you are threatened with socio-economic
sanctions. Be brave, and pay the price for freedom, or suffer the
fate of frightened ducks, all lined up in a row, heading into the
slaughter house of "As ye sow, so shall ye reap". We pray these
things, in accord with the Love of the Father-Mother-Child Triune
Spirit Within Us. Amen. - Dr. J.

Fountain of Living Waters = Tree of Life vs. World Pride
From the Book of Mormon:
Nephi 11:25": 25 And it came to pass that I beheld that the rod
of iron, which my father had seen, was the word of God, which led to
the fountain of living waters, or to the tree of life...
"1 Nephi 11:36": 36 And it came to pass that I saw and bear
record, that the great and spacious building was the pride of the
world; and it fell, and the fall thereof was exceedingly great. And
the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying: Thus shall be the
destruction of all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, that shall
fight against the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
ROOTS OF EGO geneticrejuv...
I think private enterprise
has become not only our economic system, but part of our psyche. I
attribute it to a lack of communication, and a lack of common ideas,
which are shared by many individuals. It would take quite a promising
benefit to induce us to give up much of our privacy in preference to
rub shoulders with strangers. To share the wealth means that labor
must be equally dispensed, and one task may be more unpleasant than
the other. One's housing and possessions would usually be different.
Hierarchies form naturally, and it is instinctual to compete with
others for wealth, status and good times. Without a shared non-
materialistic philosophy to bind a group, there is no proper mandate
for them to join as a commune.
Enforced communalism became a prison from which everybody was glad to
escape. And while Communism was in practice, there existed an
oligarchy which one Russian described as worse than under the Tzar,
the "nomenaklatura", created by the madman (the "guru" because
he
wanted the status), Stalin, resulting in 200 million people working
for 100,000. They didn't even shop in the same stores, like we do in
separatist capitalist societies.
I feel the reason for this is that they had no common NON-
MATERIALISTIC philosophy. Communism was created for MATERIAL
PRODUCTION, and believed there was no Spirit in man, except when it
could be used for espionage purposes. So, it was against religion but
for Parapsychology. Even in the West, religion does not tap into
Spirit except in Theory. Parapsychology is politically incorrect,
except in government espionage projects. This was called Remote
Viewing, for which there are now dozens of websites. So, once again,
Spirit is disavowed, except when it can be used for evil purposes.
Governments use it like a weapon, but, in private life, people who
express an interest in Parapsychology, are subject to socio-economic
sanctions.
Mark seems to base some of his opinions on the premise that some
religious organizations are of true spiritual value, when, in fact,
they almost all pay only lip service to the Spirit, in a society in
which anyone who expresses an interest in Parapsychology is subject
to socio-economic sanctions. If the church and other organized
religions were really tapping into the Spirit, society would not be
as they now are - only for it in words, but NOT IN SPIRIT. As a
result of this two-faced, double-dealing society, we do as the Bible
said we do: "They acknowledge God, but deny the powers
thereof". "They praise Me with their lips, but their hearts are far
away". If Mark thinks the prophet who said that was "the pot, calling
the kettle black", I think it is time he take another look at
the "pot" and the "kettle" of which he speaks.
In short, the only way to have a True Spiritual Commune, which gives
people a good reason to remain there, is to have a True Religion or
Spiritual Practice. Otherwise, although they cannot consciously admit
it, there will be the undeniable awareness of a profound lack of
positive results, and the discontent will manifest in a variety of
complaints about hierarchy and the inequities of the reward system.
In this mad maelstrom of discontent, the gap between social classes
and material rewards will widen further. And in the end, the only
members who will remain, will be the cheaters and the cheated. It all
goes back to FALSE RELIGION IN WHICH NO ONE IS SAVED FROM ANYTHING.

LET'S BUILD A CAR! geneticrejuv...
When someone says, "Let's build a car", the only question is how
much
money can he raise. No one asks him about why he wants to do it or
what does he think or what are his reasons or what is his religion or
philosophy or how much ego does he have or even it he is stark raving
mad. All they ask is, "What's in it for me?", and if it is anything
other than money or what money can buy, they will not be interested
in the project. If the funding is enough, the factory is built, the
employees are hired, and the cars start progressing down the assembly
line.
What shall we name the car? If I am the owner of the company, I name
it the Jaganath, because that is the name of the Krishna Car, a giant
float on wheels (a jugarnaut), which Hindus parade down the street
each year in their religious celebration. Why would most people soon
lose interest? Because, if it is not a real automobile, there would
be no money in the project. But what if I told you that I am a self-
made multi-millionaire who is quite serious about this project and
quite willing to hire many people at very high wages, to build this
car?
Would you ask what kind of design would the car have? Would you want
to know the details about the body, the motor or anything about the
car? Probably not. You would only want to know what is in it for you,
and if it is not money or that which money can buy, you will lose
interest in the project. But what if I told you I really want to
build such a car, and I am really a self-made multi-millionaire, and
I truly intend to hire many employees at very high wages to build
many such cars for the millions of Hindu Americans, scattered all
over the country?
Do you really care about anything but how certain it is that one
could make big money at this? I doubt it, and why should you care
about anything except what the wages are and how good are the chances
for being employed? When you apply for a job, as long as they are
hiring people to build a harmless item and the work is pleasant
enough, the only other concerns are about wages and being employed.
Isn't that correct?
But, once you hear that a project, no matter what, does not pay
money, nor anything money can buy, you immediately start to lose
interest. Is it not so? And since the Project, no matter what it is,
is no longer of any value, you begin to wonder why this man is trying
to recruit you. Is he a raving egotist? Is he trying to bilk you out
of your money? Why should you be subject to him at all? So what if his
words are eloquent? Why even care at all about what is the project he
is proposing? What is his game? How is he trying to trick us? You are no
fool. He no doubt seeks money and social status. After all, that is
only what you would be looking for in his place. Correct?
But what if I told you that I REALLY AM A SELF-MADE MILLIONAIRE AND
WANT TO BUILD KRISHNA CARS, HIRING MANY EMPLOYEES AT VERY HIGH WAGES?
Would you change your mind and give me a chance? Any of you who are
interested in this project, please contact me. With the influx of my
fellow Hindus into this country, the market is there. I hire without
prejudice about anyone's religion. If you are looking for a job, no
matter what it is as long as it pays well, please contact me. Jai

NO FAITH MEANS NO PROGRESS
P.S. The only "pay" you would get from Rasa Tantra, would be deposited
in the "bank" "where moth and rust doth not corrupt". Having
no ability
to have faith in True Doctrine, it will be abandoned in favor of
material values. I never got so many responses to my spiritual
entreaties about forming a monastic commune to test Rasa Tantra, as I
did from this joke ad for easy money. The proof of atheist materialism
is "in the pudding".
JOIN IN THE REVIVAL OF URINE TANTRA
Urine Tantra is at the core of the scriptures of world religions.
This fact is not known, because such teachings were secret in order
to protect the writers and practitioners of Urine Tantra from
persecution by those lacking in sufficient Reason, Honesty, or
Compassion. Thus, the explicatives of Urine Tantra were almost
invariably written in symbolical jargon or as allegories, in order to
protect the wise from the ignorant. All religions believe in
Salvation, but fail to ask: "Salvation from what?" That failure to
enquire, is erroneous to the more reasonable mind, which would answer
that question thus: "Salvation from Hunger, Disease, Senescence,
Death, Emotional Depression, Low Mental Intelligence, and Entrapment
of One's Spiritual Consciousness within this Physical Dimension." In
other words: "Salvation from Sufferring".
Now that we know exactly
what Salvation we are looking for, we will know if and when we find
it. We postulate that male-female urine therapy (Urine Tantra) may be
the Way to such Salvation. We propose a Project of Scientific
Experimental Research to prove or disprove this theory. "Armchair
speculation" that it works or does not work, is not Scientific
Method. Only experimentation will prove its worth, exactly as was the
case with individual urine therapy, which has proven very efficacious
for almost all physical ailments. Urine Tantra is the same, in
practice, as its predecessor, Urine Therapy, except that male drinks
female, and female drinks male. Fidelity is required, in that
changing one's partner can prolong or abnegate the desired result.
This group is for the purpose of networking so that individuals of
like mind can communicate with each other for increased Knowledge and
protection, with the purpose to disseminate this Scientific Unblind
Faith throughout the world in hopes that Righteousness and
Spirituality will flourish and increase. May the Holy Spirit bless us
all in this Righteous Task. Folks, we need YOUR
documented case histories of the practice of Urine Tantra. Hundreds
of scriptural quotes is not enough to revive this practice after
thousands of years of neglect. JOIN THE REVIVAL. Jai Om. - Sw. T.
